Reducing Contact Thermal Resistance
The trend in the electronics packaging industry is towards smaller, more powerful devices. With these small, high power components, however, there are also higher heat fluxes. As a result, engineers must find ways to minimize the thermal resistance from the electronic device junction to the ambient air. | |
|
This thermal resistance can be expressed as Rja, where:
Rja = Rjc + Rcs + Rsa
One way to reduce Rja is to reduce Rcs, the contact resistance between the electronic device case and the ambient-cooled, finned heat sinks or the liquid-cooled cold plates. There are several factors that impact Rcs, including surface flatness, surface roughness, contact force or clamping pressure, surface cleanliness, and interface materials...Full Article |

Liquid Cooling Seminars: "Taking the Plunge Into Liquid Cooling"
Lytron is sponsoring 1-day liquid cooling seminars in four cities across the U.S. in September and October! Each 1-day seminar will cover the basics of liquid cooling and provide practical tips for integrating liquid cooling into your applications.
The seminars draw on Lytron's 48 years of experience in designing and manufacturing liquid cooling system solutions for OEMs and end-users, as well as Dr. Cathy Biber's nearly 20 years of industry experience in thermal management consulting. Engineers, scientists, and managers who are new to liquid cooling will find the seminar informative and insightful. Register today! Space is limited.
Wednesday, September 13 • San Jose, CA Tuesday, September 26 • Austin, TX Tuesday, October 17 • Lytron, Inc. (includes tour of new factory), Woburn, MA Thursday, October 19 • Orlando, FL
