Lytron designs and manufactures custom heat exchangers and standard heat exchangers.Lytron's heat exchanger technologies include tube-fin heat exchangers, oil cooler flat tube heat exchangers, plate-fin heat exchangers, and liquid-to-liquid brazed plate heat exchangers. With five decades of experience in heat exchanger design and manufacturing, Lytron's expertise is second-to-none. Our heat exchangers are used in many industries including military and aerospace, medical equipment, lasers, analytical instrumentation, power electronics, semiconductor equipment, machine tools, telecommunications, and more. We engineer custom heat exchangers to meet OEM’s exact specifications, while also offering many standard heat exchangers to meet the needs of end users as well as for prototyping purposes. Heat Exchangers Performance ComparisonThis chart compares the performance of different heat exchanger technologies, including plate-fin heat exchangers, flat tube heat exchangers, and tube-fin heat exchangers. Performance is shown as Q/ITD, the heat load divided by the difference in incoming temperature of the liquid and air. Units are not shown so that heat exchanger technologies can be compared regardless of size. Heat exchangers are often customized, so a range of typical values is shown for each heat exchanger technology. All performances are compared using water as the cooling fluid. Heat Exchangers Fluid CompatibilityWhen selecting a heat exchanger technology, coolant compatibility with wetted surfaces must be considered. A copper fluid path is compatible with water and most common coolants used within heat exchangers. A stainless steel fluid path is necessary when using deionized water and other corrosive fluids. Aluminum heat exchangers offer excellent performance with ethylene glycol/water solutions (EGW), oils, and other fluids, but are not compatible with untreated water. The table below shows fluid and heat exchanger compatibility. Heat Exchangers Fluid Compatibility TableHeat Exchangers
