Lytron Introduces the Third Generation Kodiak® Recirculating Chillers

March 12, 2002, Woburn, MA - Lytron, the Total Thermal Solutions™ company, introduces its third generation of Kodiak® recirculating chillers. The new Kodiaks include the following improvements:

  • Improved Cooling Capacity - The new unit's cooling capacity was increased by as much as 20% over the capacity of the corresponding second-generation model. This was accomplished by incorporating a higher performing condensing unit in the smallest unit and changed the side panel louver design to increase airflow.
  • Increased Flexibility - The new chiller has more programmable features. The standard controller now includes auto restart, an audible fault alarm with a mute button, and a pressure-indicating button, which displays the pump pressure for accurate monitoring.
  • Superior Reliability - The new design took an extremely reliable design and improved it by using a longer life refrigeration solenoid valve, simplifying the wiring harnesses, and reducing the number of parts in the chiller.

The smaller capacity unit started shipping in February; other models will be available in April and May. Although the chillers have additional features, Lytron maintained the Kodiak pricing.

"Our third generation Kodiak represents the most reliable and best value recirculating chiller available. The market agrees and has overwhelmingly adopted the Kodiak product line," says Charlie Carswell, Lytron's president. "The new design is the result of Lytron's continuous improvement program; we incorporated customer-requested changes as well as Lytron design enhancements."

Lytron offers Kodiak recirculating chillers in a range of cooling capacities from 600 to 6500 watts. Standard versions provide +/- 0.1oC temperature stability and can use common coolants such as tap water and EGW mixtures. They feature a pressure display, reservoir level indicator and low flow sensing. The available options include high purity plumbing for deionized water, a variety of pumps, air and water filters, over and under temperature alarms, a fault relay, and an RS232 interface. Kodiak chillers are covered by a two-year warranty, and Lytron provides 24/7 telephone support.

Lytron designs and manufactures high performance heat transfer systems and components. Its cooling products include recirculating chillers, compact and portable non-refrigerated cooling systems, cold plates, aluminum oil coolers, copper tube fin heat exchangers, stainless steel tube-fin heat exchangers, and compact brazed-plate heat exchangers. Lytron is the only ISO 9001 registered Total Thermal Solutions provider. ISO certification assures users that Lytron's liquid-cooling products are defect-free and will provide years of reliable, leak-tight service.
