Service Depot Supervisor

Job Purpose:

Candidate is responsible for the productivity and scheduling of repairs for Lytron products this includes hiring, training and supervising staff; organizing and monitoring the quality and efficiency of work flow at the Lytron, Woburn, Service Depot. Contributes to customer satisfaction by timely execution and ensures the quality of the work produced meets the expectations of the customer.

Job Duties:

  • Accomplishes service repair objectives by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results (quality and productivity); coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented. Promotes workforce flexibility by ensuring that employees are cross trained and are rotated thru assignments. Monitors operator skills for diminished capacity and provides remediation when required.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow to planning and plant manager.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; observing that work is done by following the work instructions, monitoring personnel and resources; developing reporting procedures and systems such as cell white boards; facilitating corrections to work instructions; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Ensures that all aspects of inventory management, from ordering, incoming receipt, stocking, kitting, monitoring transactions, and facilitating cycle counts are done properly.
  • Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements including product prints, work instructions, and QMS procedures.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel in the Lytron safety program, FOD/FOE and 6S and the use of equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with all established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action to Service Manager.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by ensuring that cell based PM is performed on time and calling the maintenance department for repairs. Ensures that all tools in use are within their proper calibration date.
  • Provides service information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing productivity performance records and data.
  • Help in creating and revising systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Supervision, Training, Coaching, Knowledge of the skills required in the department, Solid understanding of Problem Solving Methods and Lean Manufacturing Methods, Managing Processes, Process Improvement, Knowledge of MRP systems, Dealing with Complexity, Experience with servicing and/or troubleshooting refrigeration and electrical control systems.
