Engineering Technician - Systems

We are seeking an engineering technician to support new product development of compressor-based chillers, liquid-to-liquid and ambient cooling systems products primarily used in the semi-conductor and medical equipment markets. This individual must be a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional communication skills and a strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Fabrication, testing, debugging and documentation of prototype assemblies and systems for new product development and reliability testing.
  • Work from verbal and written instructions, technical manuals, engineering specifications, schematics and drawings.
  • Use a variety of test equipment and troubleshoot product defects.
  • Development and implementation of electro-mechanical test fixtures with instrumentation for qualification and reliability testing of new systems assemblies and products.
  • Write test procedures, complete qualification / reliability testing and interpret test data.
  • Develop, pilot, implement and maintain program for automated test data capture.
  • Document all test results in the form of completed test records or Engineering Test Reports.
  • Provide ownership of the systems reliability lab, including 6S program, equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Interface with engineering, drafting, production personnel and outside vendors.

Minimum Requirements

Ideal candidate will have an AS/BS in electro-mechanical or electrical engineering and 7-10 years of hands-on experience in assembly and systems testing. Knowledge of electrical safety codes and standards is required. In-depth experience with assembly, including soldering and brazing is strongly preferred. Experience with instrumentation and test setup, Lab View software and PID temperature controllers is also strongly preferred. Working knowledge of wiring and crimping standards such as IPC-620B is a plus. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are preferred. We are looking for a motivated, hands-on, team player with the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

Additional experience / skills in the following areas are preferred:

  • Soldering / Brazing
  • Product Reliability Analysis (Weibull, HALT, etc.)
  • Solidworks
  • Lab View

This role is based at our Woburn MA headquarters. This position will report to the Systems Design Engineering Manager.
